Department/Program Overview:
The mission of the Division is to expand the
University’s relationship with its many publics
for purposes of increasing both the financial
and human resources of the University; to
maintain the goodwill and support of the
University’s many publics; and to market the
University, its programs and services to their
best possible advantage.
The Director of Planned Giving serves as a
senior member of the Development staff and is
responsible for providing leadership and
strategic direction for all fundraising efforts
through individual gift planning. The Director
of Planned Giving reports to the Associate Vice
Chancellor for Development and serves as a
liaison between the Office of Development and
development officers of schools and units.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1.
Work closely with alumni and friends of the
University and their financial advisors and
attorneys regarding the structure of
lifetime and testamentary gifts that will
benefit the University.
2.
Provide active, ongoing personal stewardship
of donors
3.
Engage in strategic planning, administration
and marketing of the planned giving program
4.
Represent the tradition, mission, programs
and needs of North Carolina A & T State
University to all constituent groups
5.
Carry a major gift development portfolio.
6.
As a major gift officer, the director will
plan, organize, and direct fundraising,
special events, volunteer enlistment, and
management for one or more regions within
the state of North Carolina
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree is required. Preference will
be given to candidates who possess:
- A
Bachelor’s degree is required. Advanced
degree is desirable.
- Leading
candidates will have demonstrated success in
a planned giving development position with
five to seven years of experience, as well
as superior interpersonal, oral and written
communication skills.

Candidates will also have the ability to
work independently, meet high goals and
interact effectively with alumni, friends,
faculty and staff in a doctoral/research
intensive university. An excellent knowledge
of laws, rules and regulations governing
charitable estate planning is desired.
