Department/Program Overview:
The Office of Undergraduate
Admissions is a fast-paced operation and it is a
critical department within the Enrollment
Management Unit. The primary role of this
department is to implement all aspects of the
undergraduate and transfer recruitment,
admissions, and enrollment phases.
Primary Duties and
Responsibilities:
The Director of Undergraduate Admissions reports
to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic
Affairs/ Enrollment Management and provides
leadership in advancing optimal strategic
recruitment and admissions initiatives to meet
the University’s enrollment goals. The Director
is responsible for managing a comprehensive and
integrated data-driven recruitment and
admissions to attract and retain highly
qualified and talented freshmen and transfer
students. The Director supervises professional
and support staff, works closely with the
directors in the Enrollment Management
Department, Student Affairs, Office of the
Treasurer, and collaborates with department
heads and key faculty members in each of the
respective schools and colleges to enhance
university enrollment.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree
and five to seven years of progressive
leadership in admissions preferably as a
director or associate director. The successful
candidate will also have demonstrated excellent
leadership skills, a proven recruitment,
admissions, enrollment track-record, and possess
the ability to manage and lead staff. Expertise
in enrollment management issues and trends
related to achieving enrollment goals, financial
aid leveraging, and the ability to make
data-driven decisions are required. The Director
will utilize a data-driven integrated strategic
enrollment management plan to develop, lead, and
implement an aggressive recruitment and
admissions plan to recruit and retain a diverse
pool of students. Demonstrated success in
collaborating within all levels of the
institution, and the ability to work effectively
with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus
community. The successful candidate should have
a strong commitment to customer service and
community relations, a collaborative approach to
problem resolution, and a willingness to be
proactive in improving services through direct
outreach to students. The ideal candidate will
have knowledge of student data base systems such
as: BANNER, SIS, SIS PLUS, PeopleSoft, or
Datatel.
