Department/Program Overview:
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, a constituent institution of the University of North Carolina, is a public, land-grant, high research activity university committed to fulfilling its fundamental purposes through exemplary undergraduate and graduate instruction, scholarly and creative research, and effective public service. The university offers degree programs at the baccalaureate, masters and doctoral levels with emphasis on agriculture, business, engineering, science, and technology. The University has also established a Research-Industrial Park, called the Gateway University Research Park with the University of North Carolina at Greensboro to foster technology transfer and promote economic development in the region.

North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is moving towards eminence as an interdisciplinary-centered university, building on its advantages in engineering, technology, and business; a strong civil rights legacy; and status as an 1890 land-grant institution. The challenges of preparing our students to meet the complex needs of the global society necessitate that their educational experiences be global in nature and interdisciplinary in focus. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs reports directly to the Chancellor and serves as a key member of the Chancellor’s cabinet. The Provost must work closely and cooperatively with the Vice Chancellor for Research to maintain and enhance the Carnegie High Research classification. Reporting to Provost are the Deans of the Colleges of Engineering and Arts and Sciences, the Schools of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Business and Economics, Technology, Nursing, Education, and Graduate Studies. Additional reports include the Deans of University Studies and Library Services as well as the Director for the Institute of Public Health.

 

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess a terminal earned doctoral degree and have a distinguished record of progressive accomplishment and a proven record in leadership, management, and resource development at a technological university or a major research university. Candidate will have strong strategic vision, a drive for excellence, and will utilize innovative methods to implement the vision. We are seeking a nationally recognized educational leader who can serve as an ambassador for A&T, who will be well respected within A&T, the community-at-large, the state, the nation and the international arena. He or she will be dedicated to preserving and building upon the strong heritage and traditions, while remaining open to innovation and change.

We are seeking a consensus builder and change agent who is decisive and bold and a leader who demonstrates grace under pressure. He or she will be an engaging professional who is trustworthy, courageous and sincere with strong moral character.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
