Department/Program Overview:
The Department of Biology invites
applications and nominations for the 9-month,
tenure-track position of Assistant or Associate
professor of Genetics. The Department of Biology
has more than three hundred (300) enrolled
undergraduates and over 25 enrolled masters
graduate students. Biology is housed in Barnes
Hall, and currently has 12 tenure-track faculty
members. The Department of Biology’s mission is
to educate students to become competent,
competitive, and confident leaders who will
excel in the global scientific community. Among
its core values, the department is committed to

intellectual growth, inclusiveness, and
collaborative engagement.
Primary Duties and
Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will be responsible for
teaching genetics to undergraduate and graduate
students. The applicant will also be expected to
establish a productive extramurally funded
research program, write proposals, publish in
peer reviewed journals, work collaboratively
with colleagues in biology and in related
disciplines, and train undergraduate and
graduate students in the research laboratory.
the applicant will also be expected to advise
undergraduate students on academic issues and
serve as thesis advisor for graduate students.
Qualifications:
The applicant must have earned a
Ph.D. in Genetics or a closely related area in
the biological sciences. the applicant must be
knowledgeable in classical genetics, molecular
genetics, human genetics, and population
genetics. The applicant must be trained in
current techniques used in genetics research.
Teaching experience at the college level is
desirable.
