Department/Program Overview:
The Department of Journalism and
Mass Communication seeks specialists in public
relations for a 9-month, tenure-track position
at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
The Department has more than 400 enrolled majors
and 11 tenure-track faculty. it is a growing
program with a highly active faculty, and is
accredited by the Accrediting Council on
Education in Journalism and Mass Communication.
Primary Duties and
Responsibilities:
Teach courses in public relations as well as
other conceptual courses in the professional and
conceptual aspects of journalism and mass
communications; undertake initiatives in
teaching, research, production, and/or criticism
in specialty; conduct research that results in
peer-reviewed publications; advise students;
provide service to department, College of Arts
and Sciences, University, professional, and
general communities.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Public Relations,
or in Mass Communication with a specialty in
public relations; Experience in teaching at the
college/university level and ability to use “new
media” or multiple media in Public Relations are
highly desirable. Experience in teaching at the
specialty at the college/university level is
highly desirable.
