Overview:
The Department of Agribusiness, Applied
Economics and Agriscience Education is one of
four departments in the School of Agriculture
and Environmental Sciences. The Department
offers the Bachelor of Science and Master of
Science degrees and gives students the academic
background for analyzing and solving scientific
and social complexities associated with the
economics and education of agriculture and the
agribusiness sector. The Department’s
educational programs are nationally accredited
by the National Council for Accreditation of
Teacher Education, and the North Carolina
Department of Public Instruction. For additional

Primary Duties and
Responsibilities:
The position will encompass responsibilities
important to the total operation of the
Department. The primary duty of the individual
will be to conduct research that will help
sustain the relevance of agricultural education
programs in schools, universities and adult
education in North Carolina communities. The
incumbent will help the department build on
existing professional knowledge-base through
inquiry that is both theoretical and applied.
Furthermore the individual in this position will
work closely with other researchers in the
Department of Animal Sciences to take a
multifaceted approach to conducting equine
research, In addition, the individual will serve
on committees at the department, school and
university levels.
Qualifications:
An earned doctorate in Agricultural Education or
closely related field (ABD candidates will be
considered), demonstrated performance as a
potential scholar; demonstrated excellence in
research, scholarly writing, service activities;
and evidence of skills in computer applications
and excellent communication skills. Preference
will be given to candidates with strong
background in equine research.
