Department/Program Overview:
Applications are invited for the Chairperson of
the Construction Management & Occupational
Safety and Health department at
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State
University.
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State
University is a learner-centered community that
develops and preserves intellectual capital
through interdisciplinary learning, discovery,
engagement, and operational excellence. The
doctoral research intensive and public
land-grant University enrolls over 10,500
students. The School of Technology has a
current enrollment of approximately 1,000
students, and offers undergraduate and graduate
programs through four departments: Construction
Management & Occupational Safety and Health;
Electronics, Computer, and Information
Technology; Graphic Communication Systems and
Technological Studies; and Manufacturing
Systems. The Master of Science in Industrial
Technology degree program offers major
concentrations in Technology Education and
Industrial Technology. The programs are
accredited by The Association of Technology,
Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE) and
our Construction Management is also accredited
by American Council on Construction Education (ACCE).
The School of Technology is working on several
strategic initiatives to help propel the mission
of the School and University.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
We are seeking an
individual with a track record of
interdisciplinary research and education who is
capable of leading a dynamic faculty. The
responsibilities of the Chair will include
faculty development, building interdisciplinary
and collaborative programs with other units on
the campus, strategic planning, sustaining the
existing strong educational programs and
significantly expanding departmental research
activities, fundraising, and fostering strong
relationships with government agencies and the
professional community. The Chair reports
directly to the Dean of the School of
Technology.
This is a
12-month position with tenure-track at the rank
of Associate or Full Professor.
Qualifications:
Qualifications for the position include an
earned doctorate in Construction Management &
Occupational Safety or a related discipline.
Three to five years experience in research and
teaching; leadership skills; ability to work
collaboratively and to communicate effectively
with students, faculty, administrators, and
external constituencies; and commitment to
diversity, collegiality, and shared governance.
A demonstrated ability and experience in
administration or management and budgetary
management is highly desirable. Work experience
in the United States is desirable.
