Department/Program Overview:
As an 1890 land-grant university, North Carolina A&T State University is a Carnegie “High Research Activities” institution with an enrollment of approximately 10,500 students.  The School of Business and Economics has a current enrollment of approximately 1,500 students, and offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs through five departments: Accounting, Economics & Finance, Management, Marketing, Transportation, and Supply Chain, and Business Education.  The Master of Science in Management (MSM) degree program offers major concentrations in Human Resources Management, Management Information Systems, and Supply Chain Management. The business and accounting programs are accredited by AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.           

Greensboro, a progressive city centrally located between Washington, DC and Atlanta, GA, has a population of more than 230,000 residents.  Well-known for its quality of life, the area’s mix of industry with schools and universities contributes to its economic and cultural development and diversity.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
This is a 12-month position at the associate/professor level. The Department Chair is responsible for providing administrative leadership for an academic unit that includes 18 faculty members, and approximately 125 students majoring in economics or finance. The chairperson will have a significant leadership responsibility for the further development and implementation of the department’s graduate and undergraduate programs.

Qualifications:
Earned doctorate in an academic discipline in the Department. Demonstrated excellence in leadership and administration preferred. Candidate must also have a strong record in teaching, research, and service. The Chairperson should be an open and effective communicator, with an ability to build cooperation and consensus among diverse disciplines. The candidate’s academic credentials should provide evidence of an ability to work effectively and collaboratively with the faculty and administration of the School and the University, and other constituent groups and partners both within and outside the University. The Chairperson must have a strong commitment to student achievement and faculty scholarship.

Salary: Competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience
