Department/Program Overview:
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State
University, located in Greensboro, North
Carolina is currently accepting applications in
the Department of Electronics, Computer, and
Information Technology for the position of
Assistant Professor. This is a
nine-month, tenure-track faculty position.
The Department emphasizes professional
experience and "hands on" laboratory exercises
in addition to the traditional classroom
experience. The successful candidate is expected
to contribute to the department and School of
Technology as a dedicated teacher who also
maintain a research record and who is actively
engaged in service to the Department, School,
University and the profession.
Although the Department is accepting
applications in all areas of Electronics,
Computer, and Information Technology; primary
consideration will be given to candidates with
expertise in
Networking and Information Technology.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Strong consideration will be given to candidates
with teaching and research expertise in the
areas of Networking and Information Technology.
The successful candidate will teach courses in
the areas of
computer hardware, network operating systems,
clustering, virtualization, WAN, SAN, wireless
networks, and network security. Relevant
industry certifications such as MCSE, CCAI,
Net+, RFID+, Linux+, Security+, and A+ are
preferred. Other responsibilities include, but
are not limited to, curriculum development,
advisement and recruitment of undergraduate and
graduate students, laboratory development,
establishing and maintaining contacts with
business and government personnel, and scholarly
activities that include funded research, and
publishing papers in professional journals and
regional and national conferences.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have an earned doctorate in a
field related to Technology or Engineering.
Additionally, applicants must have a Master’s
Degree and a Bachelor’s Degree in one of the
following fields: information technology,
electrical engineering, computer engineering,
engineering, physics, computer science,
electronics technology, or computer technology.
It is preferred that the applicant has a minimum
of three (3) years relevant industrial
experience in the field of electronics,
computers or information technology, preferably
with companies in the United States. Highly
preferred candidates should have teaching
experience in a NAIT or ABET accredited program.
