Title:  Assistant Professor, Construction Management

Dept.: Construction Management and Occupational Health and Safety

Department/Program Overview
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is a learner-centered community that develops and preserves intellectual capital through interdisciplinary learning, discovery, engagement, and operational excellence. The doctoral research intensive and public land-grant university enrolls over 10,500. The school of Technology has a current enrollment of approximately 1,000 students, and offers undergraduate and graduate programs through four departments: Construction Management & Occupational Safety & Health; Electronics, Computer, and Information Technology; Graphic Communications Systems & Technological Studies; and Manufacturing Systems. The school also offers a Master of Science Degree in Industrial Technology, with concentrations in the four major academic areas. The programs are accredited by the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE). Our construction management program is also accredited by the American Council on Construction Education (ACCE). The School of Technology is working on several strategic initiatives to help propel the mission of the school and University. Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Construction Management & Occupational Safety & Health has three positions available.
 

Position 1829: Teach in the following areas: Construction materials; soil mechanics; construction surveying; mechanical/electrical systems; sustainability/green building; and construction economics. Other duties include student advising and mentoring; student recruitment; program assessment; service to the department, school and university. Secure and implement external research grants; develop and teach online courses; engage in professional and scholarly activities. Other duties as assigned by the Department Head.

Position 2643: Candidates must be able to teach at least three of the following courses: Project Management; Construction Practices; Land Development; Construction Contracts & Law; Sustainable Construction/Green Building; and Building Information Modeling.  Other duties include student advising and mentoring; student recruitment; program assessment; service to the Department, School and University. Secure and implement external research grants; develop and teach online courses; engage in professional and scholarly activities. Other duties as assigned by the Department Chairperson.

Position 3731: Teach in the following areas: Construction planning & scheduling; Computerized estimating; Construction safety; Project management; and Construction practices. Other duties include student advising and mentoring; student recruitment; program assessment; service to the department, school and university. Secure and implement external research grants; develop and teach online courses; engage in professional and scholarly activities. Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.

 

Qualifications
Earned doctorate in Construction Management or a related field. The applicant must also possess at least three (3) years of construction industry or college-level teaching experience, good record of scholarly productivity, effective communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to function in a team setting is essential.
