Program Overview:
The Division of Information
Technology invites applications for two Instructional Designer
positions. The positions assist
faculty and staff with the incorporation of
technology into web-based courses and course
materials in order to enhance the delivery of
instruction and facilitate learning.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide
consultation to faculty and staff in the
application of instructional design and the use
of instructional technology tools in the
delivery of instruction. Work directly with
faculty and staff of the University to design,
develop, and implement web-based and
web-enhanced courses and course materials.
Assist faculty and staff with incorporating
multimedia such as audio and video into courses.
Assist in assessing the instructional
effectiveness of web-based courses and course
materials. Actively participate in faculty,
staff, and student training and the development
of training materials. Provide regular contact
as the liaison with the schools, colleges and
departments of this university and e-learning
platform vendors. Form alliances with other UNC
institutions to ensure quality control,
multimedia compliance, and online programming
standards as relevant to the organization.
Gather and publish statistics relevant to the
growth and use of the online learning
infrastructure within the university. Provide
oversight for any contractual work, online and
distance learning program development.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field. A minimum
of 3 years experience in the design and
development of web-based courses. Comprehensive
knowledge of current instructional theories and
practices applicable to web-based instruction.
Ability to use a wide variety of multimedia
technologies to support faculty instruction.
Ability to advise faculty in the design,
development, and implementation of technology
that supports and enhances instruction and
learning. Extensive experience with online
course management systems (BlackBoard).
Experience providing training, workshops, and
support to faculty and students. Knowledge of
streaming audio and video, compression methods,
file types and formats. Familiarity with graphic
design elements that are appropriate for
web-based instruction and learning. Excellent
verbal and written communication skills. Ability
to work interdependently and independently with
minimum supervision. Ability to maintain
confidentiality.
