Program Overview:
The Division of Information Technology
includes responsibility for the infrastructure
design for smart classroom strategies and
training faculty on the related technologies. DoIT leads in the design, development,
production and support of digital media
infrastructure for the academic and
administrative communities of the campus.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead in the design, development, production and
support of digital media infrastructure for
academic and administrative communities. This
infrastructure should include but not be limited
to: video conferencing, Web conferencing
classroom capture, podcasting, AV production,
digital media consultation, streaming screen
casting/screen-capture, and IP television. Serve
as an organization-wide functional and technical
leader/consultant and work with constituents
across the organization to assess needs and user
requirements for existing or emerging digital
media technologies. From assessment develop
project plans to achieve desired results,
including researching best practices, planning,
implementation and support requirements. Work
with organizational leadership to implement
short and long range plans to provide production
digital media services and end-user
support/training to departments, faculty, staff
and students. Training and development of
faculty technology skills for greater course
delivery opportunities. Develop end-user
materials and web content to promote digital
media services and educate the user community.
Develop a new forum (or refine and existing one)
to promote the use and understanding of digital
media infrastructure. The forum would include a
listserv, web presence, and regular events.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s
Degree in Computer Science or Engineering,
Master’s Degree preferred. Extensive technology
experience demonstrated by progressive duties.
Minimum of 7 years progressive experience
developing, delivering, and supporting digital
media services in an academic environment.
Experience delivering technologies including IP
video conferencing, streaming, Web conferencing,
classroom capture, podcasting, and IP television
and technical expertise with the software and
hardware components required for those
technologies. Practical experience with the
issues involved with delivering digital media
services over a variety of networks (Internet2,
home broadband, dial-up, etc.) and network
conditions (firewalls, NAT, etc.). Extensive
experience in developing and maintaining support
models for digital media services which include
both distributed and IT helpdesk support models.
Experience with vendor negotiations for
developing effective infrastructure and business
solutions.
