Department/Program Overview:
The Department
Of Family And Consumer Sciences is one of four
academic departments within the School Of
Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. The
department offers Bachelor of Science degrees in
four program areas with the following six
distinct specialty emphases: child development
and family studies (non-licensure), child
development early education and family studies
(birth-kindergarten licensure), family and
consumer sciences education, fashion
merchandising and design, food and nutritional
sciences (dietetics) and food and nutritional
sciences (food science). The Food and
Nutritional Sciences program has an accredited
Didactic Program in Dietetics. Additionally, the
department offers a Master of Science degree in
food and nutritional science and a Master of
Arts in Teaching in family and consumer sciences
education. Faculty members are actively engaged
in research that contributes to the body of
knowledge in the areas of nutrition, food
science, housing, apparel, textiles and family
issues.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of this 12-month
position include developing and conducting
statistically based comprehensive housing
research studies that address contemporary
issues in a diverse and changing society. More
specifically, duties will include: collaborating
with faculty, extension specialists, staff, and
other research scientists to develop a focus for
housing research; writing grant proposals;
identifying funding sources; showing
productivity in research; serving on
departmental, school and university committees
and participating in other academic functions.
Qualifications:
Earned doctorate or terminal degree from an
accredited university in housing with an
emphasis on the consumer, the family, and
community, or a closely related social science
discipline dealing with the study of housing.
