Department/Program Overview:
The Department of Family And Consumer Sciences is one of four academic departments within the School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. Family and Consumer Sciences offers Bachelor of Science degrees in four program areas with the following six distinct specialty emphases: Child Development and Family Studies (Non-Licensure), Child Development Early Education and Family Studies (Birth-Kindergarten Licensure), Family and Consumer Sciences Education, Fashion Merchandising and Design, Food and Nutritional Sciences (Dietetics), and Food and Nutritional Sciences (Food Science). The Department offers a Master of Science degree in one program area, Food and Nutritional Science. Additionally, the Department offers the Master of Arts in Teaching in Family and Consumer Sciences Education. Faculty members are actively engaged in research that contributes to the body of knowledge in the areas of nutrition, food science, housing, apparel, textiles and family issues.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Assistant/Associate Research Professor with 12-month, tenure track appointment.  Primary responsibilities will include establishing a research program in the area of food chemistry/biochemistry with an emphasis on functional foods; conducting research and developing research proposals to secure extramural funding from federal, state, and private sources of funding; manage research projects; disseminate research findings in peer reviewed publications; teach and advise graduate students; direct graduate research; participate in curriculum development and other academic activities. 


Qualifications:
Ph.D.  in Food Science, Human Nutrition, Food and Nutrition or closely related fields from an accredited university; experience in applied research; demonstrated success attracting extramural funding and managing projects; a distinctive publication track record; experience in undergraduate and graduate teaching; excellent analytical skills and oral and written communication skills; and knowledge of the land-grant system.
