This session will serve as an introduction to the Aggie Diplomats Program. It will provide participants with an overview of the history, and mission and organizational structure of the university. This session is designed to fully prepare the selected staff members to begin their journey of becoming Aggie Diplomats.

Effective communication is a fundamental ingredient for sustaining relationships and creating results in today's workplace. Experts agree that those who are successful tend to have excellent communication skills. Learn how to become more polished and persuasive in expressing your opinions, thoughts, and ideas. You will:

  • learn the impact of verbal and nonverbal communication
  • practice intentional messaging
  • develop listening and feedback skills
  • learn the three components of diplomatic and tactful communication

Session 4:
The Role of Customer Service at NC A&T

This workshop provides front line customer service staff with the information, skills and practice necessary for success. Explore the service cycle and ways to deliver service in line with your department's mission and goals. Learn the essential skills of service delivery and developing empathy for your customers. Develop service strategies through skill practice and learn ways to manage and correct interactions that are going poorly. Workshop objectives:

  • lean what comprises excellent customer service
  • develop a service delivery skill set
  • develop service management strategies
  • develop service recovery skills

Improve your skills in managing competing demands for your attention and effort. You will learn an array of practical tools to help you get things done in today's chaotic and constantly changing work environment. You will emerge with an action plan and with skills for mastering expanding workloads, tight timelines, and increasing uncertainty. Workshop objectives:

  • learn to become more productive by prioritizing work and maintaining your focus
  • learn to allocate your time between strategic work and tactical work
  • become a stronger communicator with techniques that enable you to question and clarify priorities
  • learn an array of tools to meet the competing demands of bosses, coworkers and customers
  • learn to communicate powerfully even under pressure

Finding Solutions: A Practical Approach to Problem Solving

All of us solve problems and make decisions every day. Usually, we make little decisions that are common to our lives and as a result do so without much thought. However, when the problems get larger and are outside the scope of our understanding, they can appear to be insurmountable.

Workshop objectives:

·          learn the key elements of problem solving

·          learn to expand your thinking, gather more information, and organize your thoughts, evaluating alternatives and making a decision.

·          you will work individually and in groups to apply these concepts in a variety of applications.

How can you and your classmates apply what you’ve learned during the past ten months to help improve North Carolina A&T? You will learn how you can be more involved, from participation in Staff Senate to the FUTURES initiative. A graduation ceremony will be held honoring you and your classmates as you officially become the Aggie Diplomats!
